UCBO

The  Omics Research Center (UCBO) is a university-wide unit of the Wrocław Medical University, established to foster the dynamic development of omics research and to strengthen the scientific, clinical, and project-based potential of the University. The Center serves as an interdisciplinary platform integrating modern analytical infrastructure, expert knowledge, and advanced competencies in the analysis of large-scale biomedical data.

UCBO’s activities focus on the development and application of modern technologies in the fields of metabolomics, lipidomics, peptidomics, genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics, supporting basic, translational, and clinical research. The Center actively collaborates with research teams at the University, clinical units, and external partners, offering comprehensive support at all stages of research projects—from concept development and funding acquisition, through biological sample preparation, to instrumental analysis and data interpretation.

Population health

UCBO utilizes omics data to support modern diagnostics and prevention, including improving the diagnosis of rare diseases, identifying new therapeutic strategies for metabolic disorders, and modeling health trends in the population of the Lower Silesia region.

Scientific grants and non-commercial clinical research

The Center provides technical and expert support for grant-funded projects, offering access to advanced analytical technologies (LC-MS, GC-MS, NGS) as well as substantive support in the design and execution of studies. UCBO enhances the capabilities of the University Clinical Research Support Center, enabling the conduct of clinical studies using omics-based approaches.

Integrated collaboration and biobanking

A key element of the Center’s activities is close collaboration with Research Groups and the University Biobank, including the secure storage of biological materials, standardized procedures for sample preparation, and comprehensive analysis and interpretation of biomedical data. This approach ensures high research quality and efficient project implementation from the planning stage through to the application of results.
